my black hat seo site gets free links without asking because it is funny and stupid. it is a great way to root myself into the seo community. most seos preaching content content content do not think that way though (at least from what I have seen and read in my short time on the web).

All kinds. I get people linking to dictionary definations on my dictionary site. I get people linking to the stories, articles and poems at my writing site. I will say that the easiest way I've ever gotten backlinks is from running my own directory though. Those things are link magnets. About 1/3 to 1/2 of the people who submit their link ends up linking back. The reason is, all these people submitting sites have sites, so it's an ideal market for getting links back. I then use the PR of my portal to get other link arrangements, including linking to my other sites.

john, thanks for the explanation, makes sense to me. Is there anywhere we can go to tell us if certain keywords are on that list?
Or what is the magic number of searches per day to get keywords on the blacklist?
