Can 2 PR4 backlinks make a site PR3

Hi mate,
I check some valid PR3 sites and saw that they only have 2 PR4 backlinks. Is this possible?
Regards.

Depends on the quality of link you are taking for your website. Its not written anywhere get 2 pr 4 links and get your pr 3.

If you are doing link exchange for your site, you have to keep few things in mind that
link should be from quality and well content website.
link page or the location of the pages must cache by google
you are not exchanging links from banned website.
Your title must be thematic with the link location page title
It doesn't matter pr1 or pr 3 but link should be quality.

Thanks for your tips, Myamsterdam. But I remember PR is different from relevance. Is there any misunderstanding here?

Just gather more quality and relevant links... the higher the quality and relevancy of the links, the higher the chance of getting a good PR...

May be you are just checking the backlinks in Google. Google does not display all the backlinks. Try to check the backlinks in Yahoo site explorer to get a more realistic idea. Few backlinks from related authority domains are worth more than many links from irrelevant domains with no authority.

That can only be answered by Google (they'd change their answer though very soon because their algos change).

Why worry about PR anyway? Your competitors are building content while you're chasing PR.

Smile One Way Links

If the links are one way,and regularly indexed by google then it is really beneficial for you.

Build Quality Related Backlinks...
Not only you can obtain higher PR but you can also have decent SERP rankings as well...
It's like hitting two birds in one stone...

As i see it, its very possible IF.

Conditions:
1. Those PR 4 sites are only containing 1 outgoing link(your site).
2. Its a small PR 4 site with poor internal linking.
3. Those PR 4 sites were .edu etc sites.

If the PR4 sites are highly related to your website that will also help hugely. Highly relevant site with few outgoing links is going to pass A LOT of google juice.

i made a mistake from my post hahaha

just replace all the word 'site' with 'page'

Individual page gain PR not the website itself...

i dont believe that relevance comes into this, but if both those PR4 links were from a page with only one or two links offpage, then yes it's possible.

Smile Links

Sometimes if a site has keyword tags or is using a keyword cloud then there could be many more than just 2 links that you mentioned coming back to the site. If someone has a keyord cloud of 5 words then there could be actually 5 links counted by Google.

(you can only really check the links via Google webmaster tools which shows everything in realtime - for your own website)

I believe it only count as one. And if ever that it count as 5, im pretty sure that the other 4 will not contribute that much regarding the juice it passed.

There are other factors that need to be considered. Outgoing links on the pr4 page as what has already been pointed out is one of them.

Can you provide the site in question and the two PR4 pages linking to it?

1) POINT 1 - PR HAS NO RELATIONSHIP WITH PR

I know my point is bit confusing, but if you are experienced you will understand. Having a back link from 10 PR2 sites doesnt mean that your website will get PR 3-4. Google looks into various different permutations and combinations before granting PAGE RANK.

2) MORE IMPORTANT POINT 2 - PR has no relationship with SERPS or SEO Rankings

Your page rank has no relationship with actual rankings of your website. Therefore you need to decide whether you wish to concentrate on the Page Rank or the actual Rankings of your websiet.

PR is not important when it comes to serps, which is important, if you search google for any keywords, you will see that the sites are not listed in pr, but relevancy, so what it means is that you need to spend your time on on page and off page optimisation and not worry about pr
