About rel="nofollow" backlinks

Hi mate,
I just found out 1 PR3 site that has 1 backlink with rel="nofollow" from 1 PR5 site. I know "nofollow" mean 0 for SERP, but can it help gain high PR like PR3?
Pls give me advice.
Thanks.

no. nofollow tag is specially made for search engine to give a certain link with nofollow a weight less link to a certain page so that backlink would not help improve your search engine rankings.

isn't it "link:www.site.com"

No Follow links in my experience won't give you PR Juice but it can still be considered as a backlink. Especially Yahoo and other search engines they don't really care whether a link is a no follow or not. They just consider them as Backlinks. But Google is the one that really checks that stuff and as what they've said when Google sees a no follow link pointing to your site, then it considers it less of value.

Is "nofollow" backlink totally useless? Should we build all backlinks dofollow or add some nofollow to make them natural?

Depends how sketchy your other backlinks are. If you have reason to worry about competitors snooping around your backlinks, Yahoo's linkdomain: tool can only show at most the first 1000. So if you get some really solid nofollows, you can push questionable/bought backlinks further back and make them less visible if the person doesn't take the time to look through everything.

Nofollow's aren't totally useless. They can be used for discovery, so they can help a bit with indexing. But in terms of PR or link juice/anchor text? Worthless.

IMO google does not give "noFollow" any value , however there is evidence that other se such as yahoo still count it. I use firefox with a plugin to determine no follow or do follow

Well, if you would be performing a link trade with other site, and they will place a "no follow" tag for your site link, will that be ok with you?
