Blog Commenting for Backlinks.
Someone mentioned here that 'Blog Commenting' is one way of getting Backlinks, almost like Forum Signatures I assume. Can someone explain to me how this works, can you place your URL in a Blog comment, is it that simple?

Just make sure it is related to your site. Some allows to place url in the comment while some really don't... Most bloggers moderate their comments due to lots of spammers... So you shouldn't look spammy or else, you're comment won't get approved.

The URL is generally wrapped around your name. Search for blogs that allow you to put your URL into a box. So, read the blog post and then if you liked it, write a meaningful comment about it. I would not try to include keywords or your site's name as your name. Just put "Scott".

Look for blog that uses Commentluv a Wordpress Plugin, it allows you to put some keyword after your name it's better than using your name as the anchor text.

Commenting on theme related to your site and checking if its a do follow is a must for me. Bloggers want their blogs to be read and they also want interaction on their site thru commenting but please don't abuse it. Spamming is really a bad way of getting backlinks and your reputation is also on the line because with the spam, you're carrying the site.

You have to leave a comment on a related blog but of course you comment have sense and does not looks spammy. Leave a link on your comment pointing to your site. This is also the best way to get one-way link.

Blog Comments would be really useful in getting more BLs if have dofollow attribute.
Make sure that your comment should be relevant to the information; not just thank you, good information or promoting your own websites - will be useless then. Your comment would be moderated and you would be in SPAM list.

It is a good way to get backlinks but as other people have said, make sure your comments are relevant or it will just look like spam and you will wait your time.

There are a number of ways of finding do-follow blogs. Firstly, you can just Google do-follow blog list. There are quite a few of them.
Another method is to search fro your keyword + dofollow.
Also you could get seo for firefox as it automatically shows up no-follow links on a page in red so it makes them really easy to check.
There are just a couple of points that you might want to bear in mind. Because most blog formats now default to no-follow on comments blogs that do-follow links tend to be run by more tech-savvy users. This means your comments will have to be good, reference the original post and offer some form of additional insight or alternative view.
Also, these tech savvy bloggers often check the referrer so if they see any mention of do follow from the search they'll know you're just there for the link. The way around this is to copy and paste the links from the search results rather than clicking directly through.

well, I agree with desman. there's actually a lot of blogs with do-follow plugin activated and these blogs can be good sources for backlinks for your blog.

Yes! A site can get a backlink through blog commenting by placing your url.. But some blog doesn't have "do follow link" so it might not give your site a backlink. Some blogs are also moderated by the owner so be careful on commenting. Your comment must not look spammy or else it will not be approved by the moderator. Some blogs also accept html code where you can enhance your post and your link.

I think blog commenting are better than forum links. They are unique and try to get them from avariety of sources.

blog commenting is basically there is a box asking you to provide your name,
URI and email address for commenting. instead you put your name you can put your anchor text on the name box, but depends on the blog owners you may accuse of comment spamming .... as you know these days many people looks for ways to get them links ....

Yea surely doing comments in dofollow blogs might add few backlinks to your site but are more beneficial for Yahoo searches. Some of the SEO guys also use the keyword which are tracking in place of the username because this may increase the value of that particular link!

Though its useful to get backlink but usually the blog owners dont allow for the spammers .So be careful when you are going to give comments on some blog post . I banned lots of blog comments as they were not even related to my blog also and only for linking those spammers left comment in my blog.
