Forum posting for SEO

The better kind of forum for SEO is where:
A- Your links are dofollow. (Obviously.)
B- Your forum profile is visible to the search engines, and your posts have a dofollow link to that profile.

B is important since your forum posts will channel internal PR to your forum profile. Not all vBulletin boards are setup like this. Without it, you will just have hundreds of extremely low quality links. Hundreds of low quality links is worth less than a single quality link.

A way around this might be to have your signature link to one of your posts (or a post in which you've commented in; preferably relevant to your site).

But then again, most of you are whores for making 1/2 sentence replies to boost your profile's PR. Euh... perhaps v7n should really come up with some safeguard against that... like a minimum word count.

i agree! we should post quality reply/post and also, there should be a minimum number of words or letters to justify that a post is a quality post.

Oh well... It is really annoying sometimes to see people posting 2 to 3 words just to say that they replied to the thread... just like the one above my post... There are one sentence posts that can be considered as "quality" anyway...

A specific answer is enough to consider as quality post not how many words you have typed. Look at your post, how many words is that? You just repeat what he says.
