You have to do every bit of effort to survive in highly competitive online market. Millions or so business competing with each other. To get a stable position you have to do article, forum, press-release, blogs etc. regularly

I think forum posting is most helpful to get quality backlinks and target traffic.But in order improve SERP to higher level,you should use all of these ways.coz seo is a complicated system.

social bookmarking
social media optimization (through facebook, twitter, google+ and others)
forum posting

Not sure which is THE best. Not sure there is an answer to that question actually.

Appears that they all work together synergistically to improve your rankings.

My preferred method is article writing. But I like to write a lot and have a lot to say in my profession. I know a lot of people that find this hard.

Just do them all and you'll soon learn what works best for you.

So many are focusing on do follow... IMHO a link is a link, be it do or nofollow, and targeting only one instead of trying to get a healthy mix of the two is dangerous. Secondly, with duplicate content being a huge issue with the big ol' panda, I don't recommend taking a blog post and copying it word for word and creating an article out of it. And before someone jumps me to it, spinning said blog post into an article is suicide.

All of the aforementioned techniques are beneficial in their own way and depending on how you use it, determines the outcome.

I would say it's a combination of all oh the things in your list and more. For example social media exposure and blogging are 2 very important parts of SEO.

For me Article and Forum marketing are the best way. Because commenting on blogs could be a waste of time (depending on the PR, quality, authority and OBL of the page!).. Article marketing is great for both PR and SEO, but Forum marketing is just EXCELLENT to get a great SERP for your keywords. Strongly recommended Forum Marketing!

All three methods are good, but would add : Social bookmarking , Press release submission , Web 2.0 linkbuilding , Linkbuilding to Wiki , Linkbuilding blog , Link baiting .

All these methods are important but each of them have different contribution in ranking of your website so if you are looking for long term stable ranking i prefer that you go with forum posting and directory submission and to get result instantly do Article Submission but article must be unique and of high quality

In my point of view Forum posting and article submission are best in SEO method. Apart from SEO, Social networking helps in increasing the traffic to the website.
