How to check inbound links
Hi, I was wondering if what is the right way to check inbound links. Is it like, link:www dot nameofsite dot com or link: www dot nameofsite dot com. I mean do I have to put a space in between the colon of the link and the www?

you can use link:site if you want to. No space otherwise you are just searching for results with "link: site".

You can also use some tools like http://www.linkdiagnosis.com/

Google doesn't show all the back links though, you would have to do it in yahoo and its without the space so link:yourdomain

that's true. you can't see the actual inbound links you have. Still you can view them through commands or other third-party programs

As to my research, Google give 25% of your backlinks but that's not accurate.

They are correct! The Big G doesn't show all your links, but Yahoo does! Anyway you can still check the links of your site through Google webmaster tool.

Aside from downloading seopen toolbar or using Google Webmaster tool, you can also try to use backlinkwatch.com. Through this tool, you can check your site's inbound links that are dofollow.
