Old Contest and Ricky (artists from S Africa)

I feel like I must warn anyone who would seek the help of DesignerRicky (v7 username).

History- I had a contest, he pm'd me and said if we agree to have him win the contest then we will do all the request for less then my contest was running for. He even sent a sample of what he could do for me. I was impressed and said ok. He asked for a $75.00 deposit and would send the images within 48 hours. You guessed it, nothing came. He is still on these boards and I am sure talking up a storm. This was just my experience with him and hopefully does not represent all of his actions but in an effort to be honest and open, others must know that he has not sent back my advance (upon multiple requests on email, IM and even filing a Paypal complaint).

If fact to substantiate my experience here is a transcript of a recent IM I had with him and as you can see, when he figures out who it is he stops answering.

Ricky, if you read this am I mi representing anything? You have your chance to clear your name and this instance if I did.

wow....hmmm. I don't know much about this but I think you should try to contact one of the moderators and see if they can do anything to resolve the issue somehow.

btw, I am a designer too and I think that webmasters should only pay for logos once they get at least some part of it. THis should be in every deal. Never pay so much money until you get some part of what you are dealing for. Internet is a risky place and you should not trust anyone with money.

Note: I am not taking anyone's side since I know little about the issue. Just wanted to make that clear.

In hindsight himoacs I agree and will never do that. I would invite Ricky to reply to this thread and explain why he has not refunded my payment. He truly has no excuse in being a man, professional and dignified person.

Ricky, people like you ruin what is a great community of skilled and kind people (many of whom I have learned a tremendous amount from).

Its always first payment,then files.. And the buyer can always open a paypal dispute if the designer fails to send it..

While we can't actually take any stance or action against any user who defaults on a contract, it is in your best interest and that of others, to warn users of this type of unprofessional attitude.

Don't slam him, but if you feel the need to warn others, we won't stop you.

oh wow...he got a negative itrader for that. I guess he doesn't like to send files after receiving payment.

i have to admit im really dissatisfied with his after sale support, we agreed that after payment, he would finish of my banner completely, however he nows says its an extra $100, really bad service, fell like giving him a - on i trader too

Same thing happened to me.
I ran a contest, Designer Ricky did not win, but I liked his design and offered him $50 for it. He accepted the $50.00 paid via paypal and then I have had several excuses why he could not send files.
Additionally -- a design VERY SIMILAR to the disgn he accepted the payment for was reused during a subsequent contest.

I love doing these contests and have done 3 -- I never had a problem until I dealt with Ricky.

Hey Ricky, actually never wanted to scare you, just wanted others here on this forum to know about the negative experience I had with you. That is fair right? Your service and skill is your product and you can consider this a review of that...

Ok, so lets get back to it. You say here in your reply "Wow I didn't want to do a job for him and he said he'd do this...."

You really should not make this easy Ricky. I would like to ask the rest of you reading this if you feel the following is indicative of someone (Ricky) who is not interested in the project and who refuses to acknowledge now that he received my payment.

The following are copies of the interaction that Ricky and I had over V7 PM. You be the judge on:
1. Did he "snipe" the contest by initially proposing an around by doing both of my contests in one? (and yes, I did agree to this as well so in this matter I am just as guilty at subverting the V7 contest guidelines).
. Did he express interest in the project?
2. Did he receive payment?
3. Did he ever send over what was evidently complete?

While I doubt highly that DR was in any way knowingly trying to suckle from the teat of “Inovative Designs”, it is frustrating to find someone out there using such a similar name. There's even a “wickedinnovations” here on a few sigs.

Personally, I don’t even like that word or any of that ilk, in a business name; way too pretentious for my tastes. Never mind the fact that you’ve both spelt it wrong. But lets not turn this into a good or bad business name thread.

I understand what you are saying.
But there is a reason my business name is spelt wrong.
As slang, people lesson words. Therfore given it a lesoned word, makes it fun and intresting. Although as much as people dont get it i still dont consider changing it, maybe in future.
