Need help with htaccess redirect

I had a forum installed at root and now moved it to /forum directory.
I am trying to find out if its possible to redirect old url structure to new one.

Old url : emasti dot in/threads/affairs-of-bollywood-stars-anyone-interested.428/
new one : emasti dot in/forum/threads/affairs-of-bollywood-stars-anyone-interested.428/

Yes. But I am not the one to tell you exactly how to do it page for page.

I'll probably annoy ScriptMan with this reply, but you could have Googled this, shash2K2.

htaccessredirect.net/index.php

You should be able to get the rest of what you need from there.

Helpful replies never annoy me. Thanks for posting it.

I am ashamed to admit that I can not write the simple line or two that would create the conditional redirect to make this work. I always tend to think of it a voodoo.

HI Solar
thanks a lot for the reply. I have been to that place. that redirect works well for a single thread/link but it wont work for all the urls . if I use that option I will have to set redirect for at least 1-2 thousand threads.
Regards

I somehow fixed it using temporary redirect.
I used this code .
#302 Redirect Old File
Redirect 302 /threads/ emasti dot in/forum/threads/
earlier I was using permanent redirect and that was redirecting whole root to the new url structure. Now I need to find out of this 302 redirect will have any affect on SEO .
