Thumbs up Anybody got hit by Google's August core algorithm?

I did everything right but got hit with penalty. Also, I have noticed some niches like Health & Finance were the target of this recent update.

Google mentioned that there's no fix of that, and webmasters can't do nothing but sit there n watch.

Clueless???

I have sites in health and had absolutely no effect. You know why? The site is set up correctly with no ads being served and it serves the needs of customers. It serves my needs then as the visitors buy my products.

Getting Google-slapped doesn't usually happen by accident.

Sure, I hear and see what they have said about the update, and their updates are supposed to affect some good change (at least it's a good change in their minds). But, they also are clearly aware that there will always be collateral damage with their updates.

And, what John doesn't go into, is that percentage of collateral damage to sites that haven't done anything wrong. They just say the user is changing, therefore the queries change, therefore they need to update something to keep up with "whatever". In principal it might make sense, but in reality, something as big as Google's algo updates can be so complicated, it makes my head spin just thinking about it and trying to follow all the guidelines, both legacy and new.

My business is not "health care" related, but our positioning (albeit I'm not really following it with any vigor any more) hasn't changed one iota. If anything, it still is better than some sites trying with all their might to change their SERPs.

I suspect you will have to research and monitor the core update specification a bit closer and maybe you will find something you can change, or do better.

Also know, they'll be tweaking this latest update daily, bit by bit, and you may get some relief.

If you haven't already found better sources on this latest update, this link may offer links to more specific guidelines that might help. https://www.searchenginejournal.com/...firmed/264105/
