Just use a proper file names, use alt tags and use title tags, I don't think there is a different way to optimize images for SEO

A good image name is the most important thing if you are talking about GOOGLE image optimization.. Also, alt tag (that should be DIFFERENT from the name) is very important. It is good, if you can do something like this:

You have 5 images on your page (add 5 DIFFERENT titles and names for the images..)
Use a combination of your main keyword and another word (or words). Example:
-> You have a blog about SEO, your keyword is: Image optimization tips, you can add words like "quick image optimization tips", "image optimization tutorial", etc.

I hope you got the idea!

NRvaghela,

Some of the other members have touched on what to do. If you are talking about optimizing images for search, there are really only a few things you need to do. Make sure you use the keyword you are targeting as the file name for the image on the page where the image resides. So if you are targeting the term “water bottle” on a web page and you have an image on that page, make sure its file name is water-bottle.jpg (or whatever image extension). Also use the keywords in the alt attribute however don’t overdo it. Only use the keyword if you can also use it to adequately describe the image.

Hope that helps,

Shawn

Use unique compressed image with right format. Use Alt tag (includes keyword), title, description if possible and full of content written around image. Create references from other websites related to you page theme.

As other members told there is not much things included in image optimization. You should use your service or product related keywords as image names, anchor text and alt tag. But remember one thing, never over optimize your images. Just put keywords where its necessary.

Image optimization plays a good role in SEO. Do the following to do image SEO

Use right keyword as the name of the image(s)
Specify image attributes while adding images to the site.
Compress images using smush.it
Use keywords in alt tags

You should choose relevant alt tag keywords, title and description and make images maximally matching with those keywords.

Even if your images rank well in image search, Getting traffic from Google image search is now very difficult now, even if your image ranks in search people has to click the "visit page" from SERP. Before Google updated their image search previously if your image is opened then it is considered as visit.

If user clicks "Visit page" or "Visit Orignial Image" then only it is calculated as a visit.

Yes it is very helpful for image optimization. There are few things which need to be followed to do image optimization such image should not be heavy, it should be page or content related and then the most important thing is target the image through proper keyword name through alt tag attribute. <img src="directory path or link" alt="Keyword">

Hope that helps!

File name should match the target keyword, as well as the alt and title tag. Furthermore you should optimize the images with something like kraken.io, so they load well for visitors and don't eat more bandwidth than necessary.

For the short time it takes to code in a title and description, alt tags etc I'd suggest it's worth it. That minute or two it takes to code (or to type in the image attributes in, for example, adding to wordpress) is then there on your site.

If by chance or otherwise it does then get picked up in an image search then you might get the odd visitor or two dropping by. You never know......

Why isn't it fair? Please explain further as your post is lacking details.
