Microsoft hints at Win 10 'tweaks'...

"Microsoft is planning to refresh its Windows 10 user interface in an update later this year, and the software maker has briefly started teasing what’s on the way."

http://www.theverge.com/2017/2/8/145...ct-neon-teaser

I stopped using Microsoft several years back as I got sick of their poor updates...Is this another tweak for the sake of tweaking?

That is exactly why I'm still using Windows 8.1 & 7 among my computers because Win 10 is not yet that good as compared to these 2 OSes.

O dear lord, everyday I use Microsoft means everyday I may move to a mac. I'm running windows 10 and hate big updates as I tend to find issues with them. They never get things right with 1 update but put out patches and patches and more patches.

The 'tweaks' this time round aren't necessarily being done due to issues!

Way back in 2012, I was really annoyed with W7's updates. Instead of expecting a smoother experience, my PC got slow and laggy after a couple of updates and patches. I'm glad W7 is more stable and smoother now compared to the previous versions.

I have a windows machine that runs windows 7 & have kept it at that. Microsoft tried to sneak windows 10 on to my machine, like they did with everyone else. I disconnected the machine & kept it disconnected for a few months. Now it won't even let me have whatever win 7 updates show up in windows update!

I love how you describe it as a 'machine'...

In the UK if you call a 'computer' a machine, it's usually a sign that you see it as inferior...Nobody would call a Mac a 'machine' for example.

Inferior? I hope computers don't start demanding equal rights soon. Or we'll all be out of jobs. In the US, I've regularly heard people refer to computers as machines. At least that was the case when I was living there.

Yes, 'machine' is often used as a derogatory term! Normally due to it not working properly.

"damn machine!"

We really need them to fix update, crashing and freezing issues. Is tweaking gonna help?

I think everyone knows the answer to that don't they? Probably not.

Besides I think its about functionality rather than technicality. All of the things you mention may be problems on your system set up, have you checked everything else out before blaming Windows op.

Have u never experienced freezing issues with your os, does that have to do with the system? Windows 10 is a fantastic os cos I use it.

Such problems are virtually non existent on OS X. My machine never freezes completely although individual apps do freeze at times. Those apps are usually from Microsoft!

Microsoft confirms second major Windows 10 update coming in 2017

Another blog post.....

Quote:
There's a second major Windows 10 update coming later in 2017, Microsoft has confirmed. The second update, code-named Redstone 3, will follow sometime after the putative April release of the Windows 10 Creators Update.

This new update was revealed at Microsoft Ignite in Australia via a "Windows 10 release cadence" slide, pictured below. The purple sections*show the few months where an update is available via the Windows Insider programme, and then the plus sign indicates mainstream release. Teal indicates the period where enterprise customers "pilot" the new update, and dark blue is the "production" period where Microsoft provides active support. So, you can see that Microsoft plans to support two versions of Windows 10 concurrently before moving onto the next update.
