7 Things Google PageSpeed Insights Doesn’t Tell You

If you have run your site through Google's PageSpeed and are confused by the results saying your site needs fixing, perhaps this article will help you and your web development team understand how to fix the errors:
Quote:
...One of the beginners mistakes in conducting a Site Speed audit is first not understanding the actual architecture of the website in question.

Understanding who built the website, the platform it uses and the unique challenges it holds allows you to conduct a site speed audit in a much smarter fashion. For example, avoiding situations like telling your development team for the 5th time they should use Image Sprites despite your server actually being on HTTP/2 which theoretically makes their existence redundant.

The aim of this post is to run you through 7 common speed tactics suggested by Google PageSpeed Insights and help you put them into context or action – as again the tool doesn’t offer much guidance by way of implementation...

The logic behind this suggestion is to reduce the number of resources a users browser has to request from your websites server. The action is to reduce the number of CSS and Javascript files being loaded and combine them together.
It is often my problem when I check my website speed optimization. To be honest, I truly don't know how to fix it. On the other hand, Google PageSpeed Insights always suggest to reduce the number of CSS and Javascript files. And my action at that time is ... do nothing because I don't know what I should do. )

A very useful tool although not realistic in so many cases. You end up working to improve so many issues like cache that is affects the site for other users. Another hate of mine is Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold content, seems impossible to solve on a Wordpress site, so much different if you had a static HTML site however those days are long gone.

Still I respect and use it.

There are ways to improve page load speed if you know how to do it. If you are not willing to learn how to do it, then you may hire someone to help you with this.

Improving the page load speed for your websites will help with Sales and may help increase traffic/SERPs, etc. It is worth looking into to achieve better results.

Also check Pingdom Tools, WebPageTest, GTMetrix and use Network tools within Google Chrome. You can quickly reduce one second off page loading time which can help in so many different ways

i guess long term that's the good thing about it. wordpress may eventually change to improve this, esp as more and more users feel it's required due to google's suggestions

If we are optimising web site speed then it would be better to consider the dev tools like chrome developer tools which u can audit in house css styles and remove the unnecessary styles from it. Yslow plugin also will provide much information about the aspects we need to concentrate more. once we finish with these tool suggestions then we can move to pagespeed insights and gtmetrix. On small note some issues we are not supposed to do to improve performance like adding long expire to analytics...as this will loose latest analytics code to be updated from google with in stipulated time. You can check my web site speed which is fully optimised

The only think I haven't quite heard about is "Serving Scaled Images Could Save KiB"

I'm not a pro of the tech part of SEO but I am slowly learning. I am familiar with the other ones. It would be good to read more about that part.

I can't seem to get my page speed past 72 on Google Pagespeed. I have tried about every cache there is, and can't seem to get rid of the "rendering" error that I always get. Will that cause my sight to slow down that much?
