Hi All,

I know it's going to happen, It always does, Submissions going against rules set, Ok, Some automated but some are not, Why bother? Why waste your time? Is it a case of i will do it just in case i get approved, It's just crazy & pointless.

The people using automated software can be a few different types of people.

1. they are SEO experts or let's say experts posting as experts but in fact, they know jack **** about SEO and use a tool to submit there clients website to hundreds or web directories. What they totally forget is to manually review each web directory to see if that's a quality web directory. Don't list a website on a web directory in which is auto approved listings that are keyword stuff titles and descriptions that really make no sense. These types of SEO's just steal money from your and say, wait a few weeks for backlinks on all the spam directories I used. lol

2. Some people got fooled into buy a tool that will automatically submit your website to a ton of web directories with a click of a button. Again this tool is useless because the directories added can be total link farms that have a admin who does not have a clue how to run a quality web directory. I like quality web directories who will reject submissions that break just 1 of there rules and keep your the listing fee you paid. This will teach you a lesson in following the rules will go a long way. Even free web directories should reject listings for violating just 1 of there rules but the free web directories don't because again, the admin has no clue how to properly run a web directory.

Directory Submission is an important yet easy method of creating backlinks. However you should make sure you are only posting on websites with Page Rank above 3 and PA,DA above 30 for better results.

Directory submission is a great way to earn backklinks. Though you should be cautious when submitting to directory sites that offer multiple submissions. Submit only to authority sites with a good PR to increase traffic.

Directory submissions are a ticking time bomb. Expect a Google penalty at the next update.

Directories have always been since Google made the first update to put a negative effect on them. Yet, a lot of the highly popular quality ones from way back have actually stayed at it and started providing more stuff on there directory that has added more value to it then just the typical listing.

Do you know if the next update is geared towards web directories? If so, got some links to these rumors?

To be honest with you, If I actually started to submit to web directories again, I'd use only a few paid selected ones I know are quality ones with not 1 useless listing but I stopped using web directories years ago and never had the motivation to use them since.

Although I submitted a blog to DMOZ after they did a redesign of it for the heck of it. lol

That's because they have a review process to follow and also the directory owner might not be on the directory 7 days a week.
