Good video,

I did not realised that LSI is more of a "formula" to help computers understand semantics. I thought it was more of a a concept.

I do thing that semantics will become more and more relevant to search engine algorithms. LSI or not, we as searchers want to see results that answer our questions, and a search engine that best understands the meaning (semantic) behind the question will provide the best answers.

It will take time, I think all the search engines are showing some aspects of semantic understanding.

Another side to it is the move to semantic markup like RDFa, where we as the website owners tell the search engines through tags what is the meaning of certain bits of the website.
