Is Cross Promoting your blog Good?

This topic is a bit different. Well, may be i am thinking that way , but the experts may already be aware of this. Is it a good Idea to cross promote your blog on "Medium.com" . I have seen a few recommendations in Quora which says that a blog can be cross posted to Medium.com after google has indexed your blog. Some recommendations also say to partially publish your blog on medium and the redirect to your blog. What is your opinion ladies and gents. How will it effect the SEO and will there be any duplicate content issues?

I think the partial publication suggestions are spot on. I think you would have an argument that that approach would avoid the duplicate content issues.

Yes, you can cross promote your blog on "Medium.com". But you should creat your own website to promote, it will be more effective.

But before you do make sure, where you linked your old content that content should be relevant.

I would be concerned about the duplicate content issue (question would be, how much of a snippet is allowable, before duplication becomes an issue with google).

On my wordpress site at the end of last year, my tag pages were duplicating all of my posts. I suspect it was having a negative impact on my traffic. And of course the duplicate pages were competing in the search engines with the original page.

To answer your query - I do not know enough about medium.com, but I would say be careful of duplicate content anywhere, even on your own site.

I would never publish the same article twice - that's duplicate content! You can make a new blog and write a new article where you promote your other content but never publish the exact same content twice, even if it is just a smaller part of your previously published article.
