I mean google always considers very few links as backlinks to as site, on which basis is this selection.

It doesn't really matter... right now Google is important to many people for marketing purposes and they can make up whatever rules they want. In time this will change, someone else will be the end all be all (remember when Yahoo was king).

9 years ago, Google did not exist. Back then, we all used Yahoo or Alta Vista for search.

They will kill themselves eventually imo. Competition get tighter and tighter, even Google will meet troubles competing and that's why they buy so many important web solutions.

Why is Yahoo not #1 in search? Well that is a question with a long answer... but mostly it could be classified as arrogance.

Back in 1997, I had a series of meetings with Yahoo and was working to sell them a company I owned. They were just way too arrogant so I would up selling it to someone else.

They made a lot of mistakes and gave up their position.

Someday it will happen to Google. Just like it happened to IBM with Microsoft. And in some ways it has already started to happen with Microsoft.

It is the cycle of business... nothing more.

Odviously the higher the page rank the more promotion you made, and whos to say if google is pentalizing for that purpose. there are only a hand full of pentalized sites, and they all promote out of control. This has 0 to do with pr. you break the law you go to jail, and alot of directories were trying to speed up the system. Wow directory, botw, jade bud theres alot of sites thats domain has been around forever with high pr that are not going to be effected. Free sites dont promote that much thats probably why you havnt seen one effected. Another funny thing about all this is when we put up scripts in the forum strongest links every web master brought these sites up that googles pentalizing as being the strongest links . I dont blame them for saying these directories were, because they got famous over night witch leads me to believe somethings fishy, but your saying directories are going dn. is crazy....... everyones got freedom of speach though...

Go to Google and type in Aviva Directory. What do you find in the top ten? Well it's not Aviva Directory. Now try other search terms one might use to find a good directory and no where will you see Aviva Directory. So yes, they have been dropped from Google. Yes they sill have pages in the indexed, but who cares, that doesn't get them anything.

[disrespectful content removed] To say someone is DROPPED, means they are no longer in the index, which is not the case.

I have said the repeatedly, but there is a big difference between being under penalty, and being banned.
