Yep. That is the way it will be.

I sure empathized with you today about the weather. It was a truly ugly looking day and I had so much I wanted to do outside and could not.

Perhap Sunday will be better for both of us.

Spent most of the day today vacuuming up leaves with the lawnmower and mulching them for use in the gardens.

Still have to tarp everything else up. I think Sunday will be inside work with Monday or Tuesday to get things finished up outside.

.

I do love all that free, natural fertilizer. It's been a 25+ year battle to improve what the developer left behind.

You aren't heading south for another month? I thought you always went after Christmas.

It's funny, the boss wanted "shredded leaves" to put around some plants. Meaning, mulching them, then vacuuming them up with the bagger attachment and spreading as far as you can.

A pile of leaves is usually reduced to less than 1/10th it's size when mulched. So I've decided to just vacuum the leaves with the lawnmower, which cuts them up pretty good and use them as is. To supplement this, we're going to look for some straw bales of hay to use for Halloween, then use them where we can in the garden.

Will be heading south for 5 weeks this winter - 4 in AZ, and one in Vegas. The boys will be around for a few more years to look after the place while we're gone.

Do you have any winter plans?

Other than a few mulched bags full for the tomato bed I just mulch them and leave them on the lawn. Using the mulching blade they are fine enough to do do harm.

My BIL has extended an invite for after Christmas, probably Feb. Florida should be a nice change of pace about then. Won't stay more than 4-5 days depending on what the bargain airline is flying. If you consider actual cost and not just gas we can't drive there and back as cheap as we can fly; 79-99 USD one way. Actually the resident boss is there for a few days right now.

Ya, contemplating driving or flying and renting a car for when we're in Florida next winter. I'm leaning towards flying as we have airmiles that may cover the air, then put some money towards a rental. I'll tell you, monthly car rentals are not cheap!

The dirty little secret is that car rentals booked at least 30 days in advance are always cheaper than the walk in price. Sometimes as much as 2/3 off.

Indeed.

I have secured a rental for the AZ trip, about 5 months in advance. Got a pretty good deal when using a special card. Saved about $350.
