I am trying to design myself - is that too much for me ?

I need to get a simple website for my business asap.
Have downloaded a template and tried editing it. But I find that I am very restricted to the template duo tu a lack of experience.
My budget is sort and I can not afford web designer.

Is there an easy way I could learn to set up a professionally looking simple website ?

Please help

Thank you

Why don't you look around first on other sites to find out what you might like best? In the meantime, start with a very simple layout just to be there and to be able to be found. This first step needs no more than a few basic informations. You can go on as soon as you know what you want your site to look like.

you learn can pretty fast looking at the css and html sections of w3schools.com

plus looking at the page source of any typical site will show you how to build in html/css.

or you can go to freelancer.com with a budget of < $200 and get something tasteful. cheapest site/template I made was $70 on there once.

If you are serious about hiring someone to do some coding stuff then please create a thread in our webmaster marketplace section. Remember to list your budget if you have one. I'm sure someone would be able to do some work for you with the budget that you have.

Also, if you hang around the coding section on this forum and start reading threads checking out the resource links provided, you could start to learn a few things and not have to hire someone.

Start small and add to your site as you learn. Designing a static site is not that difficult but the way you are going about it, with no prior knowledge or skill, is. You're stuck with modifying someone elses work and that's always going to cause problems whether you have a background in design or not.

Just like anything you'll have to practice and learn to get better. Search around google for how to customize website templates
