What is the threshold traffic limit for a Website post which webmaster should plan for Dedicated servers from Shared hosting?

What is your Dedicated Server recommendations for newbies with cash crunch.

If you know some Free offering or limited period offer but not of yourself it will be really helpful for everyone.

I read somewhere to have dedicated server if you have 5K UV/Day is it over estimation as per you? I am unsure what is the upper limit but I feel 2K UV/Day should be a right number or a Bandwidth of 200MB.
Any Idea?

This question is impossible to answer without knowing the following:

1.) Software used (PHP, Python, Ruby, etc.)
2.) Database software
3.) Average concurrent visitors
4.) Daily hits

Even than, it's still very arbitrary. But if you currently have Shared hosting, and your host tells you that you're using too many resources, than you will need a VPS or a dedicated server. You need to identify your bottlenecks (CPU, RAM, I/O, etc..).

There is no magic number to determine when you will need a dedicated server.

I agree, it can be hundreds of visitors, but I had optimalised website with tens of thousands on VPS without problem.

Get the traffic and if you have problems, solve it after.

If you are getting 10-20k Traffic Per day than you must go for Dedicated Servers.

It depends on your technology and what you're using - for example, I once ran a site that received over 30k visits on a overstuffed shared host. I was able to do that because once a month all the pages on the site were cached as html files, which were loaded and delivered to the user.

10-20k is a legitimate reason for VPS or Dedicated, managed or not the shared server will get a high server load because of the queries to the database as well. You can find a really good VPS company through VPSCheap.net (Highly recommended by us). Just be sure you find out if the amount of traffic you have is actually causing the server to go slow.

If you are having cache problems then I would recommend This Article

You can decide to upgrade to a dedicated server if your site is growing large day by day, you can review the stats which give you a brief idea. Also the only main requirement to get a dedicated server would be budget!

It depends on the program with your website. if it is html page, there are about 10,000 unique IP, you should use dedicated server.

Each site is different and the amount of traffic you can handle will depend on the resources each visitors is using. You can view your statistics like the number of visitors, and which browser they use.

It's hard to put numbers on it since it all depends on how well you have your website setup in the first place. With forums I'd say when you have at least 100 users online at any given time it's might be time to look at something like VPS or dedicated.
