.PRO Website, bad or good idea?
I have bought this domain, symptoms.pro, to create a high quality website, similar to prevention.com. But given I never see an authority .pro website I am a little hesitant to invest my time and money to launch the website. Would you other webmasters give me an idea?

Google has stated that new TLDs aren't treated as substandard to .com, .net, etc:
John Mueller from Google (emphasis mine):
"Seven months later [mid-2015], Mueller posted this article on Google’s Webmaster Central blog in order to elaborate. Addressing this issue directly, he states, “ our systems treat new gTLDs like other gTLDs (like .com & .org). Keywords in a TLD do not give any advantage or disadvantage in search.”
Source with an earlier quote from Matt Cutts: https://www.hover.com/blog/do-new-to...ns-affect-seo/

To get a more serious name associated with your website i should personally had gone with a more serious domain name like symptoms.wiki, symptoms.rehab or symptoms.support to gain peoples trust.
But thats only me and they may be more expensive domains.
Hope you go with what you really want.

Thank you for the reply. I can buy these extensions to prevent competition, but i would never use them for my websites. I can't stand them.

Its just a matter of few days.. then domain extensions, TLDs will not matter. Only the website content and engagement will matter in the future. Just go for a good website and start promotion.

Yeah but buyers still give more value to .com and .org when it comes to sale

I could have sworn I read a MOZ study that found that google weighted keywords in the domain name higher if it was a .com, .net, or .org from their trials than other TLDs.

I think you can start doing some base things and check how that improves your SEO for that domain name or not.
I have heard a lot of successful stories about .PRO domain names.

.pro is generic top-level domain but new TLDs have no SEO impact on organic search results.
Usually .com , .net ..etc domain extension usually don't have more SEO Weightage but it is used to make things easily for humans to remember this extension.
Hence Before buying think twice. If you are buying .pro for SEO, then don't go for it if the domain is too expensive.

Google respects tld domains though, but when it comes to flipping, people values .com domain more to other domain extension

That depends where you do the search for that domain name extension. Some domain name registrars do giveaway that at cheap rates.

It's usually just for the first year then you've worked so hard that year to build it's trust/SEO and you just suck it up and pay for it.

Yes. First year always cheaper then the second one. I believe most of the domain name registrars mention about that. Just do not use bold for it

I suggest, In future if you buy any domain, Consider .com, .net. AND .org extension because These are the high value domain extension.
