AS far as i know you can't specifically name one as a best editor but you can name a certain one for certain process. As i usually do web development involving simple HTML, CSS, JS and Php, i prefer Sublime Text.

You should know that you're already using best one (or at least one of the best), because Sublime Text currently is officially supported on Google Developers. What else a text editor needs to reach for becoming best?

If we're talking simple text editors, Notepad++ hands down. I don't think it can be beat. The language specific highlighting and macros, yes please!

For a full blown IDE with debugging, Visual Studio.

IntelliJ without doubts.. It has the best shortcuts, when O use it i use only keyboard without the mouse at all. This way I can code quickly as I like.
Although not every one likes coding fast.. It can lead to mistakes among the code that can become errors while running. For cod detection you can also use Checkmarx as a code security.
Best regards.
Michael.

Sublime offers autocomplete and color coding. It's very easy to maintain and the autocomplete (it will automatically close HTML tags) makes ease of use.

Bluefish really has a lot of autocomplete features and server maintainability for web sites. It's not good for hard core programming but it also offers browser preview features that make it good for web design. I also like Expression Editor because it offers WYSIWYG HTML editing, so you don't need to code but like any WYSIWYG tool it something inserts code as Microsoft wants, which is to say, non-standard.

I've used 'Notepad++' for many years. Not long ago I saw 'Sublime Text' with it's extraordinary features for coding, suddenly 'Notepad++' lost it's cool.
Your thoughts on 'Sublime Text'?
Sublime text is very cool IDE. You should use sublime text instead of
Notepad ++

Strongly recommend Sublime.
(Free with nagware or you can pay).
Color coding, autocomplete.

It offers a lot more than Notepad++ and is easy to use.

For me, it is Notepad ++

It is simply the best for me. Notepad ++ does what it is meant for. I can make write codes my website and CSS to make it beautiful without worry about the text editor. It is very robust!

...It's not a vulnerability/security issue in Notepad++, but for remedying this issue, from this release (v7.3.3) forward, notepad++.exe checks the certificate validation in scilexer.dll before loading it. If the certificate is missing or invalid, then it just won't be loaded, and Notepad++ will fail to launch...

I have been doing web development for long time... i used sublime text alooooooot.. i mean alot... and its ability to extend by installing new plugins is great....

BUT then something happend... Microsoft launched there visual studio code editor... i tried it and its actually much better to use then sublime text....

Now i have moved to visual studio code, as i do alot of modern Javascript and typescript development, and VS Code gives me aloooot of good support.

1) Visual studio Code
2) Sublime text

Either way you are getting Great text editor

I really like sublime, for me is the best one.
The amount of short cuts i can use with it is insane. Is really simple to use and great for advance users.
Looks cool, highlights the text well. And has so many other features i like.

I am using Notepad++ Text editor for easy use. But if you want more than you can try Gedit, Vim & Textmate. Which is also good for you.
