Should Canadian Prime Minister Apologize?

Prime Minister Stephen Harper pockets communion host at former Governor General's state funeral.

Is the guy Catholic?

Maybe he did not know what to do and just went with the group. If so I don't and I doubt that God minds.

He's not catholic, taking communion would have been wrong.

The priest approached him and gave him the host, I think he did well in not eating it. And there is nothing to apologize for in that case.

Apparently removing the host from the church is against canon law. Maybe he saved it for the smoked salmon at the reception???

what would you have done?
I go to Mass but when I'm not confessed I don't take the host, and if the priest comes to offer it to me I wouldn't eat it either.

And not in every country having a host outside the church is against canon law. ie: in Poland they sell it in the stores and people eat it before dinner in some special celebrations.

Talk about a molehill. If he said something like "Hitler got thing's done" then it's another matter, but communion?

I would have eaten it. I am a confirmed Anglican (Episcopalian in US) and receive the host at my own church so I would have taken it at a Catholic church too. Same Body in both denominations.

Forgive me since I'm not familiar with this denomination, but could he have just stayed in the pew? I went to my cousin's confirmation last year and just stayed in the pew.

He probably thought they were handing out campaign contributions.

I dont see what the big deal is. He put it in his pocket and saved it for later, so what? Or he threw it away, so what?

The priest gave it to him, he can do with it as he wants to. Maybe he ate is later with some wine and cheese spread.

Maybe he rolled it up with some weed and smoked it, so freakin what?

Really it is a mole hill. There are so many other things that rate much higher on the "sin" scale.

He has a few things to apologize for.
This is not one of them.

who's silly enough to ask him to apologize for that ?? first he didn't eat it and even if he did it has a religious value only if you believe in it ...

Apologize? No! He should be tarred and fathered and then have his hands cut off.

Or, no. Maybe if he doesn't want to eat the whatever it is, he should not eat it. If you want to eat it, then you eat it.

I believe he was "fathered". And I'm guessing he was mothered too.

I thought it was amusing.

Not as amusing as seeing the Prime Minister get tarred and feathered, but I'm probably not alone in that sentiment.

I doubt many people even know or care who the Canadian prime minister is. Outside of Canada, that it. Not like the country does a whole lot of anything.

Why should he apologize for his beliefs?
