Today is Great Gandhi Birthday

Hi,
I think all of you people know about the Gandhi, the great leader who took India to the freedom.

here is the brief intro about him
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mohandas_Karamchand_Gandhi

He is also known as Father of the Nation in India. Even The United Nations General Assembly too announced on 15 June 2007 that it adopted a resolution which declared that October 2 will be celebrated as the International Day of Non-Violence

Hats off to you sir. Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday, Mohandus! Hope there's many more!

What did Ghandi say to the hot dog vendor?

"Make me one with everything."

Allen: He was a vegetarian, so I doubt it.

And BTW he didn't lead India to freedom, he lead it to independence from the British and in the process India was split into three, Pakistan, Bangladesh and current day India.

A couple of quotes from the great man himself:
  • I object to violence because when it appears to do good, the good is only temporary; the evil it does is permanent. It is unwise to be too sure of one's own wisdom.
  • It is healthy to be reminded that the strongest might weaken and the wisest might err.

I don't think you can say that dude. He certainly was inspirational then and now globally, but he was no world leader, only a leader in India.

I would have to agree with StrongInTheArm. Whilst he has certainly been inspirational, and questionably influential, he was certainly not a world leader. That isn't meant to mean any disrespect. Ghandi was a great man.

i wouldn't say "happy birthday", since technically we don't count birthday of a deceased person.. but i would say, "long live the memories of Ghandi"..
his contributions is to the india history is epic.

Well the definition of the world leader could be tricky...Time magazine named Gandhi the Man of the Year in 1930. Gandhi was also the runner-up to Albert Einstein as "Person of the Century"at the end of 1999.
