CouponPromoCodes: Either contribute something more substantial than saying, "I like this", or stay out of this thread. If you like it so much I'm sure you don't want it spoilt by posts that contribute nothing.

BTW please read the Quality Posting thread, it may help you understand what we expect of members at V7N!

This is how it is done folks for the record.

State the quote:
I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.

Then add who said it, and perhaps why or where/when/in what book:
Douglas Adams, English humorist & science fiction novelist (1952 - 2001)

Why is it important to do it in this way? Well if someone wants to look up more of what the person said or why, they have a reference they can use to look up. Just blurting out some words you remember isn't enough and indeed may be wrong.
Are you just saying this because you want us to write more in our posts so it looks like a 'quality' post?

Because i think that is wrong, a quote doesn't have to of been said by someone else surely?

Mine is 'Live Young, Die Hard'
and i have no clue who's said it, i just always remember it and like it

he said that because a quote without the name of the person who said it is not a quote, it's just a sentence.
This is not the "sentence of the day" thread but quote of the day.

It is also for our own culture. Let's say your write a quote that I really like. I can do some research on the person who said it, and perhaps find more quotes that I like. We are sharing knowledge here, not just making a statement.

Primarily because of what Julien said, but also ...

1 [intransitive and transitive] to repeat exactly what someone else has said or written
In your own words, and I quote, 'Mine is 'Live Young, Die Hard' and i have no clue who's said it, i just always remember it and like it'.

You have no clue who said it. You always remember it. I know the tricks that the memory can play on you. I'm not saying that you have remembered it wrong, but you could have, and you are possibly passing on incorrect information. Wouldn't it have been better if you could have looked it up? Wouldn't a reference have helped? But of course you have no clue who said it, and if it is an incorrect quote even Google won't be able to help you.

BTW yes I do want you all to write better quality posts, who doesn't, but that has nothing to do with attributing a quote to the originator of the quote. It is about giving credit where credit is due, instead of misappropriating someone else's words. It is about getting the quote right. And it is about showing a little respect for the words you are so attached to that you can quote them.

In the long run you will thank yourself for taking the time to learn the discipline. And you can quote me on that!

BTW 2: if you don't know who said it, why not trying to find out? Maybe they have said something even better.

ME!wait, does this thread have to be someone else's quote?
I received a red rep from someone for not mentioning the person who said this quote:

Which in fact was really me..I made it up, It's based on my weird experience that I happened to share and post also on the other thread which I stated:

I just don't get it why others rush into drastic measures without giving it a further evaluation, instead jumping into a drastic conclusion(by that, i mean red rep, it inflicts more damage if the person that gave you a red bean have great negative value compared to others, eventually diminishing a number of my rep points, because of their membership status)..

Our saga continues, when's it gonna stop dude..you know who you are..
