Does Changing Website Design Will Affect SEO?

I just changed my website design before one week, my site was fine, today seems like completely dropped. i didn't changed any layout. but only i changed css.

Pls help me out.

ok did you check for broken links ???

did you say suddenly down ?? only in 1 day ?? did you check your webmaster tool ?? everything is ok there (any penalty you get)???

Changing design can change a lot. It can be less comfortable for users, for example, and change their reaction.

Completely dropped where? If you mean in the search results, CSS shouldn't have had any affect on search results.

If you bounce rate went up then like Jeremy_Daughtrey said, people might not like your changes.

If you have designed your website that good for the users. Because people do get bored by seeing same website again and again and it differs person to person. Where as you ranking drop is concern, Until and unless you don't touch the url, till then you will on the same page and there will be no change in the google result.

Do check you robots file and sitemap which you have updated.. also check your page indexed in google, this will help you to know more on the same...

did you see drop in your traffic or keywords ?
likely changing css file doesn't affect seo.

I used anchor text keyword in footer area. i think this may be the issue or some other issue. i am still finding the issues.

Yup that could do it. Google went after those a while ago. Particularly cross site theme designer ones.

Not really. If you change content of meta tags then yes it will effect your site ranks.
