I would take my lotto winnings and buy a new house, car, boat and try to live off of the interest.

Honestly, I would think of good investments, most likely real estate. Money has to make money...otherwise, in couple of years after active spendings the fun will be over.

Honestly, the first thing I will do is investing some money from winning the lottery into business. The next thing I will do is to book a holiday trip with my wife and kid to overseas. More right ideas may come after winning the lottery.

In regards to the opening thread, the first thing I would probably do, while having a nice Glass of Bourbon, is contacting a bank to take about 30% of the winnings and start a CD laddering account.
I would start with a 10 year Certificate of Deposit and then ladder it down.
After that the next thing I would do, after having a second Glass of Bourbon, would to relocate and look for a new house that's not too big but has a garage that's large enough to handle a couple of cars.

First of all, I would not tell anyone that I won
Just live as before till I find some great place/house to live.
Then I would support my family anonymously, buy a car and travel a lot.

Everyone's talking about how they would either travel, treat their families, buy a new house/car, invest the money. Here's what I would do instead since we're talking about a hypothetical lottery. Take the whole sum of money and go all-in on a blackjack hand at the casino. What's meant to be will be, and if the money's really fated to be yours, you'll probably win anyway (since the odds of winning the lottery is like 1,000,000:1 depending on your country).

So, like the far fetched chance of being hit by lighting, you somehow win the lottery. Then you'd gamble it all on one chance to get more money? What if you win the hand - will you go double-or-nothing again?

The problem I always have with this question is that my real answer is too practical. I'd make it last by putting out of immediate reach and dripping the funds to myself (or just the interest) in a sustainable manner that allowed me to live a lifetime without any further work or worries.
But that's not really the spirit of the question, people want to know how you'd go wild, right? I think I would buy a large piece of land and do "stuff" on it. People would say "where's mike, what's he up to" and the answer would be "out doing stuff." Stuff would probably be 4 wheeling, camping, hiking, paintball...whatever struck my fancy that day. I'd be the crazy rich dude just doing "stuff" on a large plot of land. Wake up in the morning, decide today is the day you build a catapult to see how far you can launch a sack of flour. That sort of level of random "stuff." When that got boring, I'd take a break by sitting on a beach. But not too long on the beach, I have to be back to my land, I have stuff to tend to.
Sports cars and other expensive toys have never really piqued my interest.

The first thing I'd do is take care of my family.
After all debts and houses are paid for I'd invest most the rest and live off the interest while making the most of my time.

I think I would also get a nice black with green accents and some LED Panel siding on nice Dodge Viper. That was my favorite car as a child.

If that money is good enough, I would buy a house and provide shelter to stray cats form all over the city. I feel sad for stray dogs too but I have no expertise of taking care of dogs and I am also scared of these.
