Do you mean by him using an email client i.e. thunderbird, outlook, adding it to an outlook.com or gmail account?

Or do you mean using the cPanel webmail? Usually you can do this on normal servers by going to webmail.yourdomain.com

If they go to webmail.yourdomain.com or whatever your server allows and logs in with their mail account credentials they can only access their mail using one of the clients available via the webmail access port.

Again, no reason they can't get an email client or use a smart phone to access either. Your server provider should have the needed information available if you don't know it.

Nobody can access your Cpanel with a password created for an e-mail Id on your website unless you set the e-mail Id's password to that of your Cpanel's.

When you create an e-mail on your website keep the passwords simple like: username123, 123username etc. and encourage users to change the password after logging in with the default password.

I think that's simple, isn't it?

Your friend can access their email account without giving Cpanel access:
1: Using webmail service: webmail.yourdomainname.com . Just need Enter Email ID and password.
2: They can setup domain email Pop3 and IMAP account using microsoft outlook, Thunder bird and Windows mail app etc. So they will get email directly into their PC.
3: You can use G-Suite (Gmail Pro) account. Google charges $5 per user.
