5 Mistakes Bloggers are Making with Online Courses

Are you guilty?

Online courses are the hottest thing right now. Everyone seems to be launching their own course, and looking for ways to make what they believe is “passive income” – but here are five of the biggest makes people are making with their online courses right now:

1. Not thinking about who they are writing for

When you are creating a course, you need to think really carefully about the end user. Who are they? How much do they know already? What do they want the outcome to be? How do they want to consume the information?

If you really want people to learn from your course, and get results from it, then you need to make sure the information is carefully targeted to meet their needs.

I can add some more
6. Provide very basic and unnecessary information
7. The matter is too technical and dry, or too sleeky

One thing I see a lot of people who write courses are assuming - everyone learns visually.

There are people who learn better by reading. They are also missing out on a whole market of the visually impaired when not providing a written version or captions in their videos.

I don't find video's helpful as the person tends to go over the course rather quickly and miss's out on explaining the details.

When you write, you are able to paint a picture with your words and that's how I learn instead of watching video's. When I was studying for IT certs, I could of watched video's of instructions but I knew buying books was much better for myself and it actually was.

There are many actually..

Attempting to turn traditional training into an eLearning course
Vague objectives and lack of vision
Unfocused, poor and unstructured content
Using generic off-the-shelf eLearning courses
Lack of interactivity

and much more can be added..
