I'm pretty surprised you don't know much about Zango, John.

I don't know if it's cleaned up its acts but it used to be that when people with Zango installed on their PC clicked on an affiliate link the affiliate ID would change to one of Zango's for that merchant. Thus stealing the sale from the affiliate. I find it quite ironic that webmasters promote something which actually aims at stealing sales from webmasters. Then again, most people who promote it have no idea what it is (or care).

To be honest as a user as soon as i see zango I move straight off or turn off javascript. If you are looking for repeat customers then I would stay well away.

Indeed, it is a shame the average visitor isn't better informed. Put Zango on your sites and watch you AVG visit time fall to 3 seconds and your return visitors disappear.

Well the basic disadvantage of Zango is that your antivirus immediately comes up with a warning!!

While the term spyware suggests software that secretly monitors the user's behavior, the functions of spyware extend well beyond simple monitoring. Spyware programs can collect various types of personal information, such as Internet surfing habits, sites that have been visited, but can also interfere with user control of the computer in other ways, such as installing additional software, and redirecting Web browser activity. Spyware is known to change computer settings, resulting in slow connection speeds, different home pages, and/or loss of Internet or functionality of other programs. In an attempt to increase the understanding of spyware, a more formal classification of its included software types is captured under the term privacy-invasive software.
Sounds suspiciously like Zango to me... But hey, what would I know about a toolbar that only a few years ago was sending people to kiddy porn while they were still called 180Solutions.

Anything that is so intrusive when you visit a website that it makes you not want to visit that website is, by definition, bad.
