Best cow for dinner?

I have the opportunity to purchase a calf and raise it out on a friends property.

Does anyone out there have experience with filling their freezer with grass-fed cow?

What breed would you suggest?

Have you had any luck with this?

I look forward to any responses!!

My wife's family raise cattle and they buy their meat at the grocery because they say it is cheaper.

Certified black Angus is the best IMO.

You can raise it grass but it is going to take grain for the good marbling.
