Legitimate Bidding For Domain Name?

I own and operate a successful business under the name of sunembroideryscreenprintingdotcom. When I originally registered "sunembroiderydotcom" wasn't available. Recently I've been receiving emails from someone stating that sunembroiderydotcom will soon be available and will go to the highest bidder. How can I check into this? I don't want my business confused with another company which could easily happen if a customer just searches for "sun embroidery". Thanks!

According to WHOIS information,
Expires on 2014-05-30 They let the domain expire. It is being held pending deletion. The registrar is in Sweden.

A domain broker is probably the one emailing you trying to get you to buy it via him/her.

If the domain broker is on the right list they will know which domains will be released back into available for purchase and could get first dibs when it is released.

From the registrars site:
Quote:
2. Redemption period: 42 70 days after due date. The domain is deactivated. Web pages and e-mail connected to the domain name no longer function. To renew the domain name it must be restored.

3. Pending delete: 5 days after redemption, when it can no longer be renewed. After that the domain is released and is available for registration again.
GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS (scroll down to APPENDIX 1 on page 3.

Hard call. How badly do you want the domain name? Do you want to take a chance that the domainer is creating an unnecessary sense of urgency so he/she makes a commission on selling it to you?

Thanks for the information. I now have a second company contacting me. If I move forward with this is there anything potentially negative I should look for? If there are lots of companies bidding for domains some of them could have bad intentions and just take my money. Is there a standard process I should look for?

try to lookup owner of the site through who.is and then contact them directly. there are also auctions for domains such as sedo. you can try your luck there.
