Any good recommendations on micro usb charging cables?
Hi everyone! It seems like I have to buy a new charging cable for my smartphone every month. I have the Galaxy S7 and is suppose to offer fast charging but the charging cords seem to flake out very quickly, then it starts to take forever for my phone to charge. The charging cable that came with the phone allowed a good 5 months of fast charging before crapping out. Now, every other cable I've tried seems to only give a couple of weeks of fast charging capabilites. Does anyone have any recommendations for sturdy long lasting charging cables?

As a photographer I would have thought you'd know better than most. Personally I would head over to Techradar....they review absolute everything tech related.

No, I don't really use many micro usb cables for photography. The only ones I use are to charge my phone and kindle. Thanks for the suggestion to check out Techradar. I will see if they have any reviews on the subject.

I have a friend who does photography and he uses them all the time, hence my comment. Horses for courses, as 'they' say.

Might it be the phone overheating the cables?? That model has more than its share of problems.
I have never had a USB cable fail.

It might be the phone. It's a really weird situation because the cables will still charge the phone but theyll no longer do fast charging.

Now that is weird. I thought the charge rate was determined by the charger and not the cable. I know that my surge protector / USB has different max ratings. Some ports are hotter than others. Do you always use the same port?

A bit off topic, but my HTC 10 can use two cables. One will charge, but is slow for files transfer. The other cable will charge and transfer files much faster. All I know is, the price is double for the latter.
I just wanted a second cable for the car, now that most cars have USB ports for charging .

There are a multitude of uses for micro usb in digital photography/video production, sound.

Coincidentally I found the same problem yesterday when away on business.
One of my phones is a microsoft lumia and my sons kindle charger has always worked perfectly well so I use that if its closer to hand at the time.
When I plugged it in I got a message stating that if I didn't use a 'correct charger' it will take a lot longer to charge. It then provided a live link to a microsoft sir where I could purchase one!!!
It's rigged!

My suspicion is that high contact resistance develops quicker in some lower quality cables. As the cable gets plugged in and unplugged repeatedly, the original factory plating on the cable's contacts may be wearing down.

Try Anker's Micro USB cables, I use to go through a cable once a month,
Anker's Cables I have been using around the house and in my car for over a year now and not a single one has failed.
I have one which is 3 Meters long (for charging near my bed) and it still charges my S7 at full speed.
