Youtubers: DSLR or Dedicated Camcorder?

I have an entry level DSLR (Nikon 3100) and we're starting to do more videos for our blogs, but my camera is limited.

Any recommendations from the forum? Pros/Cons?

This purely depends on what kind of videos you want to shoot.
DSLR will have upper hand in case if you want to have cinematic feel. You will be able to change lens as per requirements. If you are not much concerned about aesthetics and require basic shooting facility then a high resolution mobile can do equal or better job then the camcorder. You can shoot, edit (mobile video editing softwares) and upload the data from the same mobile. This will save lots of time spent on data transferring and rendering.

My friend owns a vid production company and quite openly states that his iPhone creates unbelievable videos! He uses DSLR for clients though.

A friend of mine has a super expensive DSLR & an iPhone & he ends up using the iPhone most of the time. Here's something for you to chew upon - https://www.borrowlenses.com/blog/be...a-for-youtube/

Most such lists classify a smartphone camera as being adequate for vlogging so if you aren't happy with your DSLR use the camera of a flagship smartphone.
