I asked for feedback on the free ones.

But... why do you think Moz and SEMRush are amazing? Saying they are amazing is not helpful to those trying to decide if they want to spend the money on them.

Another one who didn't read before replying.

Alexa, DA, and PA are not used by the search engines. And unless you have a crystal ball, no one knows what PageRank a page has anymore, just Google.

I mainly rely on a paid version of Ahrefs and I love it not for links only but many other features, especially how it can show you the keywords you are ranking on and the historical data. Also, the Interesect feature there can save a lot of your time as it allows you to see only those websites which links to your competitors but not you.

As far as free tools are considered, I would say following ones can help the newbies especially with search commands.

DropMyLink
PutMyLink

Most of the tools available are paid version. I don't use the paid features for link building process like getting the competitors backlinks, keywords used and so on. Instead, I use the free features in all paid tools like getting the competitor backlinks from Moz and Keywords Research from SEMRush, etc.

I use ahref to spy my competitor and try to get as many backlinks as I can by pitching either guest posting or link exchange. Your post is giving a good insight about where to start and what to do. It is going to help newbies.

I tried the "Check my links" extension and while it has limited uses, it's also a quick way to make sure all links on your page are working.

Both have their own PRO'S:
With SEMrush, tracked keywords are more while with Moz, i can get more crawlable pages as well as 2 users can be added. While other pricing and related factors still remain the same.

Those responses that do not follow the instructions in the opening post are being removed.

Read beyond the subject of the thread people.

Personally i prefer to use Majestic / Ahrefs, Moz and SEM Rush tools because they are paid tools which are having sophisticated features which gives you 100% worth each penny you spend and good support from their team.

I have used free version of Majestic seo tool for the link auditing of my site... It was a nice tool easy to use and understand.. I got a list of backlink in a file with the hyperlinks of webpage which was easy for me to analysis the backlinks/urls... All you need is just upload a file in your root directory then majestic seo track all records of your back links...

I've been reading your posts all morning and they're mostly fluff for post count. My opinion.

However, when an Admin posts this:

Then you post this, which, by all means isn't a free service:

It gives the impression you are more interested in posting for the sake of posting, rather than reading the OP and responding appropriately.

^ echoed my thoughts exactly. posts a link, posts no opinions, and then moans that the conversation isn't going any where. check every thread made and you'll see all follow the exact same formula. posts a link, copies a small bit, posts a question, and done.

Ya, I can see that too. Paid poster, running up post count to get the sig enabled. And this is the strategy of many a member here. It's a shame.

I miss the days when SEO was much simpler and getting links from relevant pages seemed to do all the tricks.

i also miss the days when there wasn't Reddit. I can't get on with it at all. Forums are imo a far far better way to communicate and discuss things. I now only frequent one forum that I consider any good, and that's OCUK forum. no other have the user base as great as theirs. Unfortunately forums seem to be dying
