SEO Tip of the Day - May 19, 2014 - Search Engine Indexation Analysis: A Simple Guide

Here is today's SEO tip of the day.

Quote:
Ever wondered about all the content you have floating around Google's organic search index? We're often consumed with analyzing the traffic we receive and the hopes of traffic we don't have yet to remember we are likely getting some impressions just outside the realm of mass search volume.

Aside from this, more importantly, do you have just the search critical pages showing in search engine results? Or might you be providing duplicate page content across multiple URLs, internal search result pages, and other site content which ideally isn't fit for organic user consumption?

SEO Tip of the Day - May 24, 2014 - Conduct a Content Audit

Here is today's SEO tip of the day.

Quote:
Content auditĒ sounds a bit intimidating like something that involves ghastly amounts of time, endless spreadsheets, and dozens of unpaid interns. The word ďauditĒ is so tied up with other unpleasant life experiences that I totally understand if it doesnít inspire you. But hang on for a second because a ďcontent auditĒ might be what your site needs to get to the next level.

SEO Tip of the Day - June 9, 2014 - 6 Must-Have Technical SEO Skills

This is a good SEO tip for today.

Quote:
Ask any number of kids what they want to be when they grow up, and at least one will point out an obvious answer: astronaut. Actually, itís pretty likely at some point most kids wanted to be astronauts. And yet we donít see many roaming around. Why? Because becoming one is notoriously difficult.

First, you need a degree in engineering, math, or science. It would also help your cause to have either a military background or to a piloting license. Add an avid interest in mountain climbing, scuba diving, or skiing while youíre at it. Then, make sure you can pass a rigorous set of physical and psychological exams. Oh, and be the best at something else other than all that previous stuff. Congratulations! You might get a chance to go to an interview. Maybe thatís one reason we donít see that many astronauts.

SEO Tip of the Day - June 16, 2014 - Addressing Thin Content

Here is today's SEO tip of the day.

Quote:
In 2014, one would think that we would have made a full transition from "old SEO" to "new SEO".

The old school of thought is about building an experience for search engines, creating a page to create a ranking. The new school of thought is about molding an insightful, useful experience for the site user.

Still, we see many complaining about Panda and Penguin losses. Aside from the schemes you can create to get beat up by the Penguin algorithmic update, a lot of what the Panda algorithm update series of years past encapsulates is the concept of quality unique content vs. unoriginal, syndicated, or thin content.

SEO Tip of the Day - July 3, 2014 - How to Do On-Page Optimization

Here is today's SEO Tip of the day.

Quote:
Letís face it. The foundation of anything (house, structure, or marketing campaign) is the single most important piece of the overall plan. Build on a weak foundation, and you can expect a collapse.

The same goes for SEO.

Even the best off-page strategy wonít do much if the foundational on-page strategy is not properly in place. Every internet marketer knows and understands this, but I constantly see shoddy on-page optimization when reviewing websites.

SEO Tip of the Day - July 7, 2014 - Implementing the SEO Quality Gate

Today's SEO Tip of the day.

Quote:
Brands are doubling down on content and becoming publishers in the true sense of the word. With all this investment in content creation, itís become critical to have internal processes to ensure content is optimized before it goes out the door. Enter the SEO Quality Gate.

What Is the SEO Quality Gate?

Itís a simple idea Ė nothing gets published on the website or other digital properties without a check for SEO and inbound tactics optimization. It can take the form of a review by an in-house expert, a third-party agency, or it can become part of the way your editors, writers, and content creators do their job. And while it may be a simple concept, sometimes the simplest things are tough to implement.

SEO Tip of the Day - July 9 2014

Hey everybody,

Just wanted to share a helpful backlink-building SEO tip. V7N has done a great job with this thread in getting everyone something to think about when it comes to improving their search engine optimization game. Two things I just want to mention real quick that'll help everybody improve their SEO.

* Use a speech recognition program to create content with your voice.

* If you if you want to create an additional flood of SEO natural backlinks to your blog or website, fork out a few dollars for a paid press release. Once the press release is published, grab the URL of the published release and use a paid automated social bookmarking service to have that press release auto shared on social bookmarking services and social networks. Within your automated social bookmarking dashboard, use your speech recognition program to write a natural description of what the press release is about. Publish and you're done.

Last but not least, always be original and unique when creating your content. If you happen to get the information from elsewhere on the Web, reference that blog or website. Continue using your speech recognition program to create unique content so that you get good search engine rankings, even if you're writing sometimes sounds a little off track. Speech recognition will definitely help your site improve in search engine results pages and better your long-tail and long-term SEO.

What do you think about what's said here, Ms. MJTaylor? :-)

Thank you all for reading this.

Here is today's SEO tip of the day.

You started your career as a chemist before becoming a member of the SEO industry. Will you share with our readers what made you decide to make this career move?

The path is a long one, and it was not straight from being a chemist to an SEO guy. As a chemist I did work in the industry as a quality analyst and chemist at SGS and also in the academe as a college instructor at De La Salle University while finishing my masterís degree.

SEO Tip of the Day - July 17, 2014 - 3 Ways to Help Prioritize Your SEO Efforts

Here is todays SEO Tip of the day.

Quote:
Whether you work in-house representing various stakeholders or on the agency side working with a handful of clients, arguably the hardest part of your day is prioritization. And it isn't just one thing.

On any given day, we're prioritizing keywords, tactics, outreach, clients, meetings, and even metrics. And then we prioritize those buckets against each other.

It's exhausting. But if you don't do it, you're doomed.

SEO Tip of the Day - Aug. 3, 2014 - Immunize a New Website Against Negative SEO

Here is today's SEO Tip of the day.

Quote:
Negative SEO is something of a boogeyman. Some will say it doesnít exist. Some say it exists, but itís largely ineffective. Some are in awe of its power, claiming itís capable of taking down even top ranked sites. Still others claimed to have personal experience with it, either as a victim or as part of a history with black hat SEO. On black hat forums, itís regarded with reverence, just another tool in the toolbox.

Negative SEO is definitely possible... I know because I've had two clients recently who were targeted by competitors with thousands of trashy links that, in both cases, resulted in manual site-wide penalties from Google.
Unfortunately, many people scream that they're a victim of negative SEO, when in fact, they're victims of their own shady practices (or those of some bargain basement "SEO" they hired). It's not easy to ascertain whether it's a case of negative SEO or not... buying bulk links or running a linkbuilding campaign through some clown on Fiverr can seem to be NSEO. But it does occur, particularly in highly competitive niches like pharmaceuticals, payday loans, etc.

SEO Tip of the Day - Aug. 5, 2014 - SEO Strategies for JavaScript-Heavy Single Page

Here is today's SEO tip of the day for Ajax websites.

SEO Strategies for JavaScript-Heavy Single Page Applications or AJAX Sites

Quote:
Client-side JavaScript is great for making innovative and user-friendly web sites. Next to AJAX, a web technology well established to trigger the load of certain page content on demand, so-called Single Page Application (SPA) frameworks, which heavily rely on JavaScript, are seeing a rapid adoption in the web developer community as they allow for fast-to-market development of highly interactive and fast-loading web applications.

However, relying heavily on JavaScript to render your page content and provide navigation functionality brings with it well-known risks in terms of technical SEO, indexing and linkability challenges. Here are some proven strategies for creating AJAX sites and Single Page Applications that are not search disasters.

SEO Tip of the Day - Aug. 14, 2014 - 7 Things That Will Improve Your SEO More

Here is your SEO Tip of the day.

Quote:
Since Googleís announcement that SSL may have an impact on your organic rankings last week, itís caused a bit of a stir among the SEO industry. Bill Slawksi questioned its validity since a siteís content wonít change. Cyrus Shepard mused potential profits of investing in an SSL company. But my personal favorite?

The SEO industry, myself included, is a sucker for silver bullets. At one point in our careers, weíve all looked for that one thing that will give us top rankings with convertible traffic for as long as we hope to have them. So whenever Google announces a new factor that will influence rankings, we obsess over it.

Navigating the SSL Maze

2nd SEO Tip of the Day - Aug. 14, 2014 - Navigating the SSL Maze

Here is your second SEO Tip of the day.

Since Google announced that SSL (https vs. http) sites will be receiving some ranking benefit, everyone and his uncle is either trying to figure out IF they need it, HOW to get it and WHO is the best source. It seems like half the folks out there don't know WHAT it means while the other half is trying to SELL it!

My bud, Tim Nash, put together a very comprehensive roadmap to help people understand what SSL can and can't do for you, what to consider when deciding whether to convert or not and what to watch out for.

Quote:
So what is SSL anyway?

SSL (Secure Socket Layer) is a method for establishing and then passing packets that are encrypted from 2 end points. Now here’s the bit that’ll get your head spinning – no one uses SSL, and we haven’t for many years. You see SSL was succeeded by TLS (Transport Layer Security), so when someone talks about SSL they are probably talking about TLS.

SEO Tip of the Day - Sept 29, 2014 - User-Centered SEO: Creating Long-Term Value

Here is todays SEO Tip of the day.

Quote:
CMOs understand that by its very nature, SEO rarely stays the same for long. The shift to putting end customers and users front and center is quite different from SEO practices of yesteryear.

While this new SEO direction may seem daunting, it also opens up a huge realm of opportunity for those that are willing to adapt.

Why Focus On The User?

There are two basic goals associated with user-focused SEO. The first is to earn high-value traffic through the use of valuable and targeted experiences on the site. The second is to create an environment that allows a user to directly connect with content that is highly relevant to them. This leads to a..

SEO Tip of the Day - Sept 30, 2014 - 'Un-link' Building: How To Successfully Remove

Here is todays SEO tip of the day.

'Un-link' Building: How To Successfully Remove Penguin Links

Quote:
Lost your rankings in Google? Built some dodgy links in the past that you're now worried about? Been a victim of a competitor attack?

Google's Penguin update, first released in April 2012 changed the face of link building as we knew it. Prior to that, sites linking to yours did little harm, at least not long-term. That all changed 2.5 years ago.

During that time numerous websites have dropped down, or completely out' of Google as a result. Those shady link building tactics that once used to rank you prominently no longer work. They now have a detrimental affect on your website.
