keyword length is limited to 60 syllables. more what we keep important keywords ahead which lie before this limitation.Because it is the standard length of keywords for almost all popular search engines and beyond this limit words are skipped.

As far as i know you can optimize 3 -4 best keywords per page for on-page to achieve better rankings. See to it that your keywords are relevant to the content of your page.

More click/less competition if you are new yes it is the right way to start with, but in the mean time keep on creating backlinks as well from Social bookmarking, directory submissions, RSS feeds, blogs and forums comments.

Around 2 to 3 % of keyword density is beneficial on each page. And avoid choosing long and high competitive keywords.

I think you could pick as many keyword to appear on your website as possible. Make them very specific, for example, use email marketing of XXX, PPC campaign design for XXX, etc. instead of SEO.
But when promoting your site on forums, relevant sites, choose only a few keyword and focus on attaching these words to your own site to make your website appear on top of SERP when people are searching for information about your niche.

Choose those keywords that suites your website/product/area the best. I think 10 kw should be enough.

Well, that is fine to choose 60 keywords, but dude as my point of view you should take 3 or 4 keywords at the beginning level, after your website comes those 3 or 4 keywords than you target other keywords...

Like what other suggested, you can have 5 targeted keywords first, the most relevant keywords. After they rank well, then you can add more...

and as much I know if you select only 2 or 3 keyword, and target them into your content you would get your site on page 1.

You should probably focus on just a couple of them (2-5). BTW the keyword meta tag is pretty much useless SEO wise, Its all abou the content and the backlinks

Hello
I m agree with Vaziliza advice.you should use only 10 keyword for your site. After choosing these you should use seo technics and rule start first on page than off page.

wow. 60 keywords are too many to be used. you can use 3-5 keywords, most advisable. and in keyword selection pick those with more clicks but less competition, this way you can get a faster result.
you can also use short tail keywords for your main page and long tail keywords for your other deep pages.
