I'm sure you heard the term eating like a horse. Well after they eat they convert it; about 50-60 pounds a day's worth of conversion. The straw, wet bedding and organic matter it cleared and placed in a big pile to slowly convert into organic compost. This is a wonderful soil amendment, an all natural fertilizer with an approx .5-.5-.5 NPK.

I don't know about CA but buckle your seat belt for the US markets today.

We can tell when the local farmers are fertilizing their fields. The smell is unmistakeable.

Today's market losses will be a significant setback -

Yeah. I nearly got a divorce the time I went to the stockyards for a free load of the fresh stuff.

Compost is entirely different. A pleasant earthy smell is compost done right.

I want to get to the gym this afternoon, but its' so gloomy, I think I might just put my feet up on the ottoman, and watch a movie.

Stay tuned for the outcome!

I went to the gym and what a workout it was. I drug that little Mantis thru about a 3 x 50-60 feet of dirt and tilled in all that compost.

If I can walk tomorrow, it ias a good day.

I have plenty of that stuff to do when it all dries up around here. In the mean time, I had to either go to the gym, watch a movie, or take a nap.

Napping is out of the question.

Watching a movie is great, but unproductive.

So, I went to the gym, and will now watch a movie in the basement while on the treadmill.

I only use the tread in the basement in the winter, and on bad weather days.

Looking ahead, beyond todays gloomy clouds, the rest of the next 10 days shows it getting warmer and some needed sunshine. It looks like there will be some showers in the mix now and then, but that's not such a bad thing.

The wet and possibly humid weather approaching will certainly cause some leaf mold on trees and shrubs we have planted. We installed all the plants, trees and shrubs in the both the front and backyard starting from the day we moved in over 10 years ago. It was a laborious process and while we did a lot of planting the first year (most of the bigger trees and shrubs), it really took a few years to complete. But once we were finished, it was really satisfying to see the fruits of your labor. You see, the builders planted nothing - except putting sod down on top of what they called "top soil", that in reality was junk soil.

Anyhow, in the backyard, we have a decorative "crab apple" tree, and up to a couple of years ago, it would drop almost all it's leaves by the end of July. Apparently a mold issue caused it, and while we tried to manage the mold issue ourselves, we eventually gave up and contracted a local company with actual trained "arborists" to manage the issue.

Now, the crab apple tree has leaves into November.

Well I suspect it is headed your way. Here, this weekend promises to be very July like. We just can't seem to hit consistency; heat on for a couple of days and the AC working overtime.

Time to go start setting up for the yearly yard sale.

Weather here is still not without some rain pretty much every day. The only forecasted days without rain is Tuesday and Thursday next week ( and yes, they're about 6 or 7 days out), withy those days still estimated at 30% chance of precip.

I have to cut the grass at some point, but the ground is till so saturated...

I'm through saving crap for a yard sale. From now on it goes in the trash or to a charity.

My last yard sale was about 5 years ago - it was part of a street sale. If one of the better "items" was $100 new, and it's a few years old, but still in good shape and you try to sell it for $15, the buyers say "I will give you $5". I say no. In all honestly I know there are some that take the item, and resell for $15, making money from our stuff.

I hate hagelling with people that are cheap and only want to pay you sh** for something good, and they won't go away, I get offended and if they still won't go away, I've told a few to f-off. Not the best selling technique, but better than a street brawl!

Nowadays, if we're purging, and our stuff is in good or better shape, we usually give to Cerebral Palsy or Canadian Diabetes. They come with their truck, pick the usable stuff up, and then sell for their cause.

I never minded the haggling as long as it did not drag on but after this weekend it is over for all the small stuff. Anything worth the time to take a picture I might offer on Craigslist and then it is off to charity.

I want the garage and house to have a fine hotel look.

Sounds like a big $$$$$$ day.

Been through the broken spring thing a couple of times. The last time it stripped the teeth on the opener gear and the total was $$$$.

It seems to me like they don't last as long as they should.

Forgot to mention the extras - new wire cables that pull the double door up (two sides required), new roller wheels on both sites (bottom 2 only) and some kind of galvanized strip at both corners.

It's been 13 years since the entire unit was installed, but I had a maintenance service 4 or 5 years ago, and the roller wheels were replaced along with a hinge service etc. But, the motor and belt is still fine.

Add: Driveway sealer guy (I have this done every two years) appeared today too. More $$.

I think I'm going to lock the door, take the phone off the hook and go to sleep till tomorrow. I can't afford any more costs today! No cost for sleeping so far.

You might be doing better than me. Here 23 years and had to do the springs twice. Not sure we ever replaced a roller. I might ought to check those out. We did have to replace a couple of panels but I think he used the old hinges and rollers.

I am completely worn out. I would like to say we have all the junk in the house in one place but I know we missed some it. We sure have a garage full. I hope we have a lot of customers to carry it away.

Tomorrow will be another hard day. Then come the first of the week I intend to drown some Canadian crawlers.

Overcast, but no rain today. Summer-like weather tomorrow.
