Sudden Drop In Google Search Listings..Why??

My blog site was listed as number one for several of my articles, and on page one in a google search for several others. All of a sudden it dropped to number who-knows-what for the most popular articles! NOW my site is no where to be seen, while all those who COPIED me-and that has been a huge problem-are listed above my site! All my other articles have also dropped, some markedly. Could this just be a glitch? I had always thought that google took into account the original author! I have several theories as to why this has happened...
What do others feel may be the possible causes??

So it's not just me! lol I had wondered that as all the copy-cat sites were keeping the same title as I used, if google then saw it as 'spam'..but penalised ME!!

Ouch.. that's rough. There could be several reasons this is happening but I am curious are the copied articles 100% copied?

Google should cite the original source as the first site who published it.. not that hard, but they do muck that up a lot of times. Relevancy (time) is another factor here to consider. Hopefully you will be the one ranking #1 for this long-term and Google is adjusting to the new articles being published, and will set the others aside.

The copied content issue I'm sorry to hear about. I do article rewrite for freelancing and Google should change their search methods to find out who the original content writer was, but their system isn't perfect.

Keep it up with original articles and you'll be back on top with your website.

...thanks everyone! -yes, I hope google get it right soon too! The articles in question were copied word for word, Brad, sometimes even with the same picture! Many gave the source and a link though, many did not! I'm just waiting and seeing what happens in the next few weeks, and still writing!
