Difference between google and yahoo backlinks ?

hello everybody

I noticed that there is a huge difference between the number of backlinks on yahoo and google when you're looking for them

for exemple my website got 100 backlinks from yahoo and 0 or 1 from google , this even after having added the website on several directory , forum , website ...

so i wonder what are the differences that make a link be considered as a backlinks by yahoo and not by google ? and is it possible to make google aware of yahoo backlinks ?

ps: i know this is about my own situation but i think it's all about google so i posted it in this section

thanks

Google does not list all back links. You could have a 1,000, and Google will say 50. It's as simple as that. Why? Only Google knows.

My own research concludes that most of the Yahoo Inlinks ( backlinks ) will be currently recognized by Google ( thats most) so you can take a rough bet that if you have a hundred recognized by Yahoo most of these will also be indexed and taken into account by Google ( though perhaps with different emphasis ) , if you are using Google webmasters tools for more than a few months , you can see some co relation there

Yes, that's right, Google does not list all back links.
So, you want to know the difference between Google and Yahoo in terms of backlink consideration? Those are different search engines with their own algorythms which they keep in secret. There is no way to find out why they consider links differently, unless you are insider.

You are also asking if it possible to make google aware of yahoo backlinks. How it can be possible if they have nothing to do with each other, those are different companies.

Have a great day

It's an algorithm issue, it's how Google and Yahoo indexes backlinks. Yahoo indexes links faster....

Google shows very few links your site has.
Yahoo shows enough that may satisfy the checker but it still not show all your links.

why? only each of them knows.

Google lists only a fraction of the amount that Yahoo lists. I hear that MSN lists the most. Of course, only Yahoo shows the inlinks so far.

Google does not display all links to your site, it only shows from high PR relevant sites. Nobody knows the reasons really. If they did people will be manipulating the algorithm to get more baklinks and rank higher.

Interesting, I've wondered this as well.

Also, can anyone confirm the point about it showing ONLY the links from high relevant PR sites?

Yahoo shows more links and one can assume that the google spiders the same ones.

Yahoo generally show ALL links while Google is just giving you a partial list of sites that links to you and as far as i know, the links shown by Google are picked randomly..

Its really hard to have backlinks in google. You still need lots of effort for you to have it.

For some sites, google shows links from the same site as backlinks. (i.e: www.example.com/contact.html) will be shown as a backlink to www.example.com), and for other sites Google ignores links from the same site.

google webmasters tool lists all backlinks (at least 95% backlinks are shown, but it takes time).

Then at one time, link:URL.com returned ZERO result for many sites (including high PR sites), then after a month or so, links were displayed again.

Google has this message in some page ...: "Keeping track of billions of pages is not easy ...."

Also, links coming from the same IP address (even if coming from different websites), links coming from a page which contains a URL cloud (typically directories contain 100s of links on the same page) are apparently discounted a lot by google.

I don't know how true that is. Because why would google want to protect your backlinks? That will in no way increase google search relevancy or accuracy. I think it just wants to be choosy about whether to give you credit for a link or not.
