Tips For Effective Article Marketing

The following is an article I published a few weeks back and I wanted to post it here because I actually run an article directory and I think that this article addresses some of the major misconceptions.

"Article marketing and press releases as a form of marketing are some of the oldest and most effective forms of marketing. Used correctly, article marketing can go a long way to build your business into a brand. But, before you get started, here are some pointers that will help your article marketing campaign to be an effective one.

If you are unfamiliar with article directories and the power that they have as a promotional tool for your website or business, you would do well to learn some of the requirements of this promotional technique due to the many advantages that it offers. Well written and informative articles are picked up by many webmasters and published on their websites so as to continually bring fresh content to their readers. With that in mind, an article writer would do well to follow a few simple rules before submitting content to article directories.

Only submit articles that you own and have the exclusive rights to publish. Never, under any circumstances, submit articles that you do not own. The best way to make sure that you have exclusive rights to your article or press release is to write unique articles yourself. Writing unique and informative articles is not difficult. However, unless you are already an expert on a subject, some research may be required. If you feel that you cannot write quality articles, try anyway. As you write articles, your copywriting skills will improve with time and you will learn how to quickly write quality articles that are unique and informative. Once you have written an article, have an editor check it for correct grammar and spelling. Remember, your writing style is unique. You are the only person who can write with your voice.

When submitting articles to article directories, use your real name or a pen name that accurately reflects your actual name. You want to be identified as the owner of your articles and press releases and the best way to do this is to identify yourself as the author by publishing or submitting it under your name. Having your real name associated with your work will go to great lengths to turn your name as the author of an article into a brand. Reputation is very important and authors with good reputations reap great benefits from articles that they have submitted to article directories through resulting syndication.

Another thing that you want to make sure that you do when writing articles in queue for submission to article directories is focus on the reader. Self-serving articles should not be written. Articles should always be written with the reader in mind. In an ideal world, a reader gains something useful from an article that your write. Some authors write articles that read as though they are an advertisement for their website or business. Writing in this way should be avoided. An article or press release that focuses on the needs of the reader has more advertising power than a direct ad because of its usefulness. Articles that are written like ads are not absorbed by the reader or remembered. Writing articles that are unique and informative are remembered and the result is for the copywriter is a good reputation.

Remember that each and every article and press release directory has its own Terms Of Service (TOS) and the terms of each should be carefully read and followed before submitting articles. If you follow their rules and submit quality articles that you have authored you will build your reputation and reap all of the benefits that article directories offer."
