Well, some governments think bitcoin phenomenon is a unethical thing + they can't make people pay taxes, there could be more reasons but this 2 reasons are maybe somewhere in the top of the list.

Bitcoin is not a legal tender of any country.
Moreover bitcoin is a “virtual currency.”

Many governments like to manipulate money.. You can't manipulate bitcoin the way that you can paper currency. At least that's my best guess. lol

Some countries ban bitcoin because there's no way to regulate it. With regular currency, you know you can go to the money market or the country of origin if there's a problem with that currency. Diplomatic ties are created to ensure that people who trade and deal with currencies are protected.

bitcoin is absolutely bad for the economy, it essentially just pulls money from other sectors of the economy, it doesnt actually create any value, just sucks up money from other parts of the economy hurting them. Bitcoin and crypto's are economically destructive. The damage its causing in the gaming industry by rocketing up GPU prices is half what bitcoin is "producing".

I really wish to know how this bitcoin story will end up. It might be a bit too early for such a futuristic thing to happen now. Just today I've read an authoritative article say bitcoin will probably reach 55k this year. They made a Montecarlo experiment. Bah.
