Just recently I saw a guy asking for help with SEO, while claiming he is an expert on his portfolio. Lol

snake does have a valid question...

It is not uncommon for members to post for count.....(don't understand the need)..
Or to get people to hit their site....

We see a number of member who have "seo" in their usernames and then ask basic questions...

On the other hand...there are many here who are more than willing to help...
If and I say if ....there is a legitimate need...)

Do very limited postings on the forums and the forums you are managing or posting should be relevant to your website. You may take the help of content writers for the commenting purpose.

I don't find anything wrong with this post. It's not bad to ask people for sharing their experiences. And no matter how expert you have become on your field, there is always place for learning. You can learn from other's experiences as well. However, I too agree that this post seems as if it was dropped for sake of post count. It could have been asked in better way.

Coming to question,
Working on SEO lot depends upon forum software that you use. Personally, when I start a forum, first thing I look for is does it have SEO plugin/module or not. I look for something that would make search engine friendly url with post headings included in url.
Then follows the other conventional SEO techniques.

If your ISP is known for allowing too many spammers, some forums will simply just block your attempt to subscribe or post due to that bad "neighborhood"....

Even some people are expert in SEO they can ask for help. Because SEO is a continuous learning process.
I think you should join Moz for latest updates.
