You dont need to learn coding.
Just get a webhost and use any of the following forum software :

- MyBB ( Free )
- Phpbb ( Free )
- VBulletin ( Paid )
- XenForo ( paid )

I would suggest mybb instead for is very easy to modify. Forums by the way is very hard to maintain and the hardest part is to make it active. This will take time. just so you know.

after you're done with the free scripts, know your way around, and have grown your community, then pick a paid forum script.

but do not EVER use vbulletin. they're on the way out and version 4 and 5 are total crap. they also have the worst customer service ever.

i think the last time vb was good was version 3.8 or lower, but 4 and 5 SUCKKKKK!

for Forums, its vBulletin which is #1.

you don't need any coding for it.
you have tons of tutorials just watch them and fallow (y)

but it is never free, many premium modules are paid.

if you want free PhpBB is free

I don't think you worded your question right. If you want to code your own forum it could take at least a year before you have it stable to allow people to join once you work out all the bugs.

I can pull up the programming languages that you should know to code your own forum but it's not something you can do over night.

As snakeair has said, coding your own secure forum from the ground up is a project that's going to take serious investment on your part. If you are interested in running a forum in general, then I would suggest that you look into the free suggestions posted elsewhere in this thread.

I suggest you to use MYBB or if you want to use PHPBB then, make re- coding with someone known persons. PHPBB forums has been hacked several times as heard in webmaster forums long back.

Xenforo is a great application. I am a member of a forum which is build in xenforo and the user experience is just awesome.
