Domain must be pronouceable, short as possible and easy remember. Also check the domain history at archive*org to be sure it's OK.

Consider the reputation of the registrar. Price is less important. Consider the price of Whoisguard or other privacy protection service if you wish to use it. Consider the trick of offering a low first year registration price then a high price for renewals

I use Namecheap and have been using them exclusively for over 8 years now. I like them a lot. You can usually find coupons to save over a dollar on new registrations and their Whoisguard privacy protection can be had for $0.99 a year.

A short domain name is going to be next to impossible to find. I prefer memorable and descriptive domains even if they are longer. The majority of your visitors are not going to be typing in your domain name. They will click through from search engines, click through from other links, or return to your site via bookmarks so the shortness of the domain is less important.

I would recommend you to try to consider non-hyphenated domain instead of hyphenated one. You will be pleased with .COM, .ORG or .NET domain extension
