Your thoughts on my domain

I got the domain adversate dot com, which is Latin for "apply the mind."

Wondering what your impressions of the domain are? Sort of wondering whether it sounds "ad-ish" because it starts with "ad." Not like I am going to put an ad agency up there.

That was what I thought until I read your explanation of what it means in Latin.

For me, it's the "adver" start to the domain name it that gives me that sort of impression, but that feeling diminishes a bit when the back-end of the domain, "sate", is pronounced.

Does a every domain have to mean "something"? Think of Google, Yahoo, Amazon - yes they've been mentioned all the time in this context, but it's true that they really convey something completely different today.

Good point. Like Starbucks, it is up to the organization to brand it the way they want.

Domain name looks like an ad agency company but second part of that name is hard to pronounce that name "sate"

You polluted the well by providing the Latin root meaning. Your thread responses would be more accurate without that. Fighting that I still see it as brand-able.

It could be advertising, it could be adversarial. It could be legal, advocation and a 100 other things.

This is one where the logo should convey your intent.

You could not pick a worse person to ask. I recognize great stuff when I see it. I just can't see it until someone does it.

I've recently read Laura Ries Visual Hammer. It really drives home the importance of a good logo. And after weeks of trying to think up one, I got nothing. Should probably go over to some graphic design community and ask them to come up with one. Is DeviantArt still active? I might check that out.

Never heard of them. I realize you may want to maintain a level of quietness about your plans. You can PM or post elsewhere.

I will reaffirm that any creative juice I ever had evaporated a long time ago.

Time to tickle your brain. Weird the thoughts we have in the middle of the night.

Rodin's thinker, a classroom, a professor, a library, a large book or a crossword puzzle??????

Admittedly modern web users won't recognize several items on that list.

So go forth and adversate.

Thanks for the ideas. Wonder how to simplify the image of a professor. Google should help me out there.

It looks like ad agency and also hard to pronounce. I think domain name that are easy to pronounce are better for keeping it remembered.
