You can also post on your OWN site for free .... Think about it!

Yes, PBNs are very risky. I already had a very bad experience with them. Instead of spending money on them spend money on Guest Posts on real money making sites. This is far better than PBN.

So, do you mean it's better to spend money on guest posters who spam for a living, rather than spending hard-earned money on a good content writer or on some low-cost social media adverts??

It is far better to post content on YOUR OWN SITE...

Spend money wisely on REAL WRITERS and not those lame $10 and below 500 word so called article writers....

The answer is No and Yes... for example:

If you are getting your post on Electronic Gadget Guru Blog for your Electronic Stores it will be a good and positive links for your website..

If you are getting the same from any beauty bloggers for your electronic stores then its irrelevant...

I should have said, little to no value. Beyond the obvious signs of the source page industry and/or ethics and such, the only way you will know the true value of any link (good or bad) is if there's a significant change/movement upwards, downwards, for positioning - or traffic up or down.

I'm a big fan of testing things myself and seeing if they work. Just setup a new site with two different subpages and use two different approaches and see what gets indexed/ranked first.

PBN's are becoming increasingly more difficult to maintain and utilize. As Google has put steps into targeting PBN's. Was actually implemented a few months back according to the Search Engine Round Table.

Although they can still be effective, they may provide more risk than reward. Personally, if you can stay away from them I would recommend doing so. They make work in the short term, but long term there may be some consequences that you may face (being penalised). Just keep your links organic if you can at all.

Maybe stick to link Guest posting and cautiously doing link exchanges.

- Just my 2 cents

Agreed SeabassG.

Testing is an important part of SEO, mainly because everyone is in such different niches. So what might work for one person, may not work for another. While logging your results, as some results will maybe only work under particular circumstances.

I think I should add a signature to my contributions that says something like, "All advice is based on my own experience. Your results may vary."
