laptop wont charge

For some reason my acer laptop won't charge. I don't know if its because the charging cord was fixed with some electrical tape or because I need a new battery.

When I plug it in the plug pops up on the battery picture and then the bar inside it rises like it's charging a few times and then it freezes like it isn't charging but the plug picture is still on the battery sign.

IDK what to do. It keeps going dead so when I turn it back on I have to keep plugging it and then unplugging the charger every time it freezes/stalls so my laptop charges.

I even let the laptop cool down before trying again but it still keeps stalling.

Help?

Has anyone ever had this happen to their laptop?
How did you fix it if it did?

Take the battery out and try using the laptop with just the power supply (charger)... does that work?

If it does, then your problem is either the battery (probable), power jack (possible) or motherboard (unlikely).

If it doesn't, then it's your power supply. You should be able to find a replacement on eBay cheap enough.

Let me know how you get on

Check the adapter unit and cord. I can't figure out how he does it but my 15 year old has been through three. His puppy ate a fourth (glad it wasn't plugged in).

It is most probably the battery. Get it checked in a Acer service center.

I think that your problem is in your laptop, but not in adapter or cables as well. And the battery is good enough, but have you tried to reinstall OS, may be it will be the reason of it.

Maybe some hardware issue is there with your laptop.

You need to consult it to a computer technician but be aware of not trusting them to much cause they are bluff.
