I'm not 100% sure but server location does still have an impact on SEO in my experience. if you are looking to targeting the Canada then I would definitely recommend that your server is hosted in the Canada.

Perhaps you will get more valuable answers if you explain what type of site you have and who you are targeting.

e.g. a worldwide audience for an information site would have different requirements than an ecommerce site that only ships to specific locations.

Just because your hosting company is local does not mean their data centers are local. If the search engines are presenting or ranking based on IP address and you are trying to hit a local market, the IP address can play a role in your ranking. That doesn't mean it is impossible to rank locally with a data center in another country, it just means you have to work harder!

There are almost 200+ ranking factors so it is also one of those factors but it has not that much impact so even if your site is hosted somewhere else you can beat your competitors working on other factors.

Since you have "found that Server Location matters.", why don't you share your data with us. I'm sure everyone would benefit from that information.

Not at all, server location does not impact SEO ranking, Google is smart enough to recognize and understand that websites can be hosted all over the world and everyone may not be comfortable in finding the local hosting company, what else if in a small country nothing like this (a good hosting provider) Does it mean that it will be effected? or what if a well managed reputed website is hosted outside and a bad website on regional targeted server?
Google does things that is completely according to real life and because of this only they are successful. If someone comes to your website, then do they come because of your server location or for content?

Moving a server outside of the nation of your intended interest audience can affect ranking. A server situated in UK is a marker the site will probably be pertinent to the UK.

With the above noted, there are various different strategies you can use to show importance, for example, setting the site's geo-focus in Google WMT, utilizing the meta language tag, for example, "EN-UK" and demonstrating a physical address inside the UK

The only way a server can impact SEO ranings in my mind is if the server is slow. for instance, if your server is in Houston and your target audience in India, it may be slow and Google takes site speed into consideration when ranking results.

Yes, but there are other potential issues that can slow things down too: including how many "hops" have to take place for instance. It's not just about how fast or slow a hosting server is.

This can be easily tested with SERPs.com's rank checker. Just search for a keyword, filter for a specific domain and search from an exact location. Try a few different locations and you'll know if server location impacts your rankings.

Yes Server location has a little impact on ranking. I have read it in one of the posts that server location is also one of the factors which can have a little ranking edge.

That's odd - our ranking improved, pretty remarkably with a domain change.
