Picture Security

Hi guys Im hoping that someone on here will be able to help me with the issue I am having. I am a web designer for a small non profit group and the group has made a request that the pictures on the site not be able to be saved or downloaded off the site. I saw once on a sight when i right clicked it a little message popped up[ saying i couldnt do that. Does anyone know how this is achieved.

Thanks in advance.

Java is really not good protection - Is your server IIS or open source?

To be 100% honest, I don't see any possible way to keep pictures totally safe from being stolen. You can go through measures to make it more difficult, (no right click, no hot-linking, apache stuff, etc), but if someone really wanted a picture on your website, they can just use print screen and crop the picture. However, if you want to alert whenever the right mouse button is clicked, take a look at this:

Those are good.... but not really.

Anyone with at least some knowledge of the internet will be able to get past every single one of those.

But it all comes down to this: if you know how to print screen, then you got the pictures.

There is absolutely no way of stopping someone from downloading your images, because, technically speaking here, anyone who visits your site has already downloaded them images. Every browser has to download everything on your site before the end-user can see it. So, whether you like it or not, no image is safe.

The only thing that would make the pictures no so appealing is lower their pixel. If that is something that would be useful to do.

There is a way - but java is not it - most people that know what they are doing have a java disabled browser (I use ff with no plugins and no java for....aaaaaah - stuff), but you can do it server side - most people worry about hot-linking .... that's easy, but protection can be done (IIS or Open sourse?

same with video hoyasoft makes a good plugin for IIS for that, wish I'd have found it before I had one custom written.....lol

No worries. I just didn't want ya thinking I was in favor of disabling right clicking, cuz I am adamantly against it.
